Salcombe Harbour have recently upgraded the Shadycombe boat storage facilities with a brand new 12 ton capacity travel hoist from Sublift. South Hams District Council provide boat storage facilities at Shadycombe Boat Storage for the winter and previously boats were lifted out onto the car park using a contractors ‘traditional’ crane. However it was decided that South Hams District Council would upgrade and operate the whole facility and make it available to Salcombe Harbour. At the same time an ‘environmentally friendly’ scrub off system was also installed where all the waste wash off water is recovered.
Boatshed Dartmouth, providing first class brokerage services to the South Hams including Salcombe and Dartmouth harbours, were recently able to make use of these excellent new facilities for the successful sale of a locally owned Beneteau First 211. Salcombe Harbour Master, Ian Gibson, kindly managed to squeeze in a vacant slot in their busy schedule for the survey with the boat being held in the strops while the surveyor carried out his work. The South Hams District Council staff operating the service were friendly and efficient with the result that the survey went off without a hitch.
As part of the comprehensive service offered by Boatshed Dartmouth, broker Paul Singer helped arrange the transport of the Beneteau to Falmouth in Cornwall and he once again liaised with the harbour staff for the lift, mast un-stepping and load onto transport, all on a Saturday morning. All went smoothly once again and the yacht was safely delivered to her new owner.
If you are looking to buy or sell your boat in Salcombe or Dartmouth call Paul Singer and he’ll provide a complete, hassle free brokerage service across the South Hams. The previous owner of the Beneteau First was so impressed with the service he wrote afterwards “A highly professional and friendly service, quality delivery and an outstanding result – to be recommended to others, no question!” The new Salcombe Harbour facilities certainly played a role in the smooth delivery of this sale and it’s certain now that with the new facility fully operational, buying and selling boats in Salcombe will be a whole lot easier.
