Boatshed, the international yacht brokers, has increased its world footprint with the opening of a boat sales operation in Holland. Running the new office is Fred de Vos and his son Lars.

Fred de Vos believes there is untapped potential for used boat sales in the Netherlands region. He said: ‘We’re already seeing strong demand for good used boats across all genres – power and sail, small and large. Because of the weakness in sterling, we have seen a surge in interest from overseas buyers – particularly at the quality end of the market – which is good news for UK sellers.’
Boatshed Holland will cover a wide geographical area, Markermeer, Netherlands inland waterways and Amsterdam. According to Fred, Boatshed Holland, the local economy has started to move in the right direction. He continued: ‘I think people realise that it makes good economic sense to buy and keep a boat in these waters. There are some great areas for boating – and of course mooring fees cost much less than on the near European waters.’

Now with almost 60 offices worldwide, Boatshed has been growing steadily since its inception in 1999. CEO and founder, Neil Chapman, believes that a Holland operation will plugs an interesting gap in Boatshed’s portfolio of businesses. He said: ‘Whilst the global economy is still in the doldrums, there’s always a market for well priced, well looked after, used boats. In fact, when times are tough, buying an older boat makes far more sense than buying new, and savvy buyers have started to take this on board.’

Boatshed are the International Yacht Brokers who go onboard every boat they list, take up to 80 photographs and publish full information of the boat online. Their sophisticated brokerage management sources buyers for the right types of boats, this is where 99% of the Boatshed sales come from.
